Editor:
I read the Letter to the Editor in the Jan. 19 edition entitled “Second-class water user” and I do agree with the author about wanting the same benefits as other Gibsons taxpayers. Gibsons boasts about their great aquifer and how they can keep their users at Stage 2 restrictions.
As an SCRD water user who is always facing Stage 4 restrictions, what I question is why the SCRD is required to supply water to Gibsons taxpayers at all? Everyone that depends on SCRD water has faced water restrictions at Stage 4 for several summers in a row and frankly the 162,863,000 litres of water referenced in the letter could be put to much better use in the SCRD system where there is no other alternate supply available.
My message to the SCRD is clear. Turn off the tap to Gibsons!
