Severe health issues must be identified and published and, absolutely, being advised on how to deal with them is appreciated. The question to me is, when have things been taken too far?
Coronavirus is one recent example.
Putting it in perspective, look at the common flu. Infection Prevention and Control Canada says the 2019-20 influenza season began on Aug. 25, 2019. As of Feb. 29, 2020, there had been 35,356 confirmed cases of influenza in Canada. The federal government says that each year in Canada, it is estimated that influenza causes approximately 12,200 hospitalizations and 3,500 deaths.
Is this new coronavirus dangerous? In short, yes. Has it been over dramatized? I think so. People are panicking.
There’s no reason to; we can and will control this virus.
