On the question of the closure of Shorncliffe and Totem Care facilities, the NDP seems determined to carry on in precisely the same manner as its predecessor, the Christy Clark Liberals.
For the NDP and Vancouver Coastal Health to continue dealing with Sunshine Coast residents in the same secretive way that resulted in residents presenting a petition with 10,000 signatures to the previous government is disappointing, to say the least.
Actually, their actions are a disgrace. The NDP will end up paying a big price for violating its public-not-for-profit health care policies and principles.
There is still time for the NDP government to involve the community and do the right thing. The residents and the care workers in these facilities and the community deserve better.
