More communication needed from Weston

I am very disappointed by the lack of meaningful communication from the conservative government and our member of Parliament, John Weston.

There are many important and controversial issues facing Canadians that should be discussed and debated, but he is silent about them. All he tells us is what a great job he is doing by adding up how much money he has brought to the riding. Meanwhile his government is forcing committees to meet in secret, denying Canadians the right to know what is being said in them, and their response to the concerns of many Canadians is to attack us and call us radicals and un-Canadian.

Recently Mr. Weston was on the front page of Coast Reporter doing a photo op for the new seniors' complex in Sechelt, and a week later I received one of his Conservative propaganda pamphlets telling us what a great job they are doing for seniors. This happened while Prime Minister Steven Harper, speaking not in Canada but in Switzerland, told the world he is going to cut the OAS, which is the only salvation for many of the poorest Canadian seniors.

I have sent emails to Weston and other members of his government and I never receive any replies. I have asked that he not just come to the Coast to do announcements and meetings with the Conservative faithful, but to speak to the people, give interviews with the media and hold town halls where people could ask him questions and demand answers, not just Conservative talking points.

I would like to ask all concerned citizens on the Coast to contact Weston and demand he be open and transparent with us. We want real leadership from our member of Parliament.
