Monster buildings don’t fit

The six-storey strata buildings proposed for the Sechelt waterfront need to go elsewhere. For one, Chapman Creek keeps going dry and, as of this writing, we’re still in Stage 3. Where is the water going to come from to keep all of these monster buildings in our community?

I can see all of these people in the other two towers walking through our Sechelt Nation waterfront and they are not very nice people. They stare into the houses and bring their dogs, when it clearly states that you have to keep your dog on a leash.

They also come onto our private property and fight with the band members and are racist to them. Then they call the police on these homeowners and they are told not to bother our people. l have witnessed this many times with my family.

I think the people who own these buildings should ask these people to be considerate of our waterfront homeowners and not be a problem when entering our territory.

Did these people consult with the Sechelt Nation on possibly how many more residents are going through the waterfront?

I see cars parked close to the wharf, ones who come from McDonald’s and throw litter on the ground.

I have lived here all my life and seen all the changes that happened around us, and seen all these people go through our territory. They need to learn respect for all mankind. Consult with all the band members – not with our chief and council, but with everyone.
