Re: “Simons makes Beachcombers pitch,” June 1.
Congratulations, Nicholas Simons. After a decade of taking a flaccid stand on the real problems facing the Sunshine Coast – packed ferries, an overburdened and unsafe highway, acute water shortages, inadequate long-term care facilities, inadequate homeless shelters, critically low affordable housing, lack of DFO enforcement, preserving the forests that Coast residents appreciate, etc. – you have finally proposed to correct what is truly missing here. Reruns of The Beachcombers. Granted, some issues are not entirely within your jurisdiction, but a strong provincial voice in these matters may have a positive influence. I applaud you for getting our priorities straight. Is this what we pay our elected representatives for?
I am sure that Powell River/north Sunshine Coast residents have a list of greater concerns in their communities as well. It’s time to take your fur-lined pension and step down to let someone with a strong voice represent us in the legislature.
