One may never fully comprehend the true meaning of community until horrible circumstances besiege you and you find yourself the recipient of true community support. This is a lesson we have been learning since a devastating fire on the May long weekend.
Even while our wonderful Gibsons Volunteer Fire Department members were valiantly fighting the flames, our wonderful neighbours were there helping and offering their assistance. In the hours, days and weeks that have followed, people and organizations have come forward with concrete help and encouragement; all of which is helping us to begin looking beyond the loss. This week our neighbours, Shawn and Stephine Boyd, came by with a generous donation from a fundraiser held by our local branch of Kin Canada.
We are grateful to our amazing neighbours, the Gibsons Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Services volunteers, our valued fellow farmers, growers and fantastic customers: we appreciate all you have done to help us move forward. Thank you, dear Sunshine Coasters; this is a special place filled with people with hearts as big as the beautiful mountain we have come to call our home.
