Editor:
I applaud the organic waste initiative, but am extremely concerned about residents leaving their organics on the roadside for pick up unattended, thereby attracting wildlife to their front doors.
This needs to be addressed before the service begins, or we will be killing more problem/habituated wildlife that we have trained to come for the food. Bears will not know that the food was not left for them; in fact, they will see it as an open invitation. Not fair!
What measures have been implemented in other BC jurisdictions to avoid this problem?
