With the onset of spring and the amazing weather on Easter Monday, it was just perfect for a walk on the beach. All was well until I came across a group of individuals with aerosol paint cans defacing a beautiful naturally sculpted rock just south of the Roberts Creek picnic area. Horrified, I asked them to stop and tried to explain how the rock’s natural beauty was not enhanced by the application of spray paint. However, I was told to basically mind my own business as it is a public beach and that the wording of the painted message, “Love Heals, We Love You,” would be uplifting to passersby.
I have passed this rock countless times in the 35 years I’ve lived in Roberts Creek and have been “uplifted” by its natural beauty without the aid of a spray-painted message so it’s hardly surprising the selfish actions of this group to use it as a billboard made me very angry.
If they thought aerosol spray painting our beautiful beaches would promote their message of love, it was certainly lost on me.
