Snickett ideal for swim

Letters

Editor:

My wife and I enjoyed the beautiful weather on New Year’s Day at Davis Bay watching the Polar Bear Swim, but found it difficult for many people to see due to the large turnout combined with the cramped space allocated to the event. The high tide left zero beach space available to participants and onlookers alike, leaving the sidewalk and pier swamped.

After leaving and making our way to Snickett Park we both agreed that this would have been the ideal location to hold this event. The beach area was not impacted by the tide, and of course there is also a long pier for additional viewing. True, the parking is not ideal but available with a short walk. I thank the organizers for their hard work, but recommend they look at Snickett Park for next year’s swim.
