Reserving not for the poor

I am outraged by the proposal to increase reserved space for non-commute times. For many these are the times we choose to take the car because we’re more likely to get on without a reservation. Many who are of limited means do not have the money to make reservations, and as a result, are opposed to the continuing growth of the reservation system.

The system privileges those for whom an extra $10 or $17 is neither here nor there. But there many who are not well enough off to be able to spend that extra money lightly -– those on fixed incomes especially. I hope the members of the Ferry Working Group (and BC Ferries) will remember that not everyone is as fortunate as I suspect they all are.
