New roadway vision

Letters

Editor:

The call for major improvements to our coastal highway includes a major rethink of the design and function of our road system. Some of the features that are needed include moving heavy traffic away from residential areas; wider and safer roads; byways that are wide enough and safe enough to encourage cycling, walking, jogging and other recreational uses; roadways that meet emergency needs; and a major increase in public transportation.

If we get things right this time, the Sunshine Coast can be the envy of Canada in meeting the safety, recreational, and transport needs of our citizenry.

Let’s work together to realize this admittedly bold and new vision. In the final analysis it is about safety and eliminating road congestion. Please support the Highway 101 campaign.
