Goodbye, Sechelt

Letters

Editor:

It is with great sadness I must say goodbye to the community I love. I have lived in Sechelt for 64 years and I have been married to the love of my life for 68 years.

Now it’s the time in our life we really need our community and we are being torn apart. No seniors’ living facilities for us! My husband was lucky and is living in Shorncliffe and we cannot say enough about the staff and care he is receiving there. Our problem is after 68 years of marriage and true love we cannot be together under one roof due to lack of assisted and independent living facilities on the Sunshine Coast.

This is the time in our life we really need each other; with failing health and few friends left, we need each other’s support.

I have been forced to move away from the Sunshine Coast to get the housing and care I need, leaving my husband behind. This is going to kill both of us.

It is not fair! Something needs to be done! Goodbye to the community I love.
