Crown land for everyone

Editor: I see a trend by a few people on the peninsula (Sechelt to Earls Cove and also Sechelt to Roberts Creek) to try to gain control of Crown land for their own personal use. We have at least four or five different groups who use this Crown land.

The trail society is marking old logging roads and trails produced by other groups with hiking signs. These trails were probably made by salal pickers, pine mushroom pickers, loggers, etc. They are trying to monopolize all the areas they are putting these signs on.

Until these areas were opened up by logging and other activities, there was probably little hiking. People hiked where access was easily found. And folks didn’t say this is to be used only by their group.

My point is this is Crown land, to be used by everyone not only today but in future generations.
