Re: “Directors wrestle with garbage, recycling, organics,” Feb. 1.

I have to agree with Donna McMahon that the proposal to use 134-litre bins is excessive. It is also very short-sighted: Think of the waste and the cost! Why get rid of the pre-owned plastic bins? At our house we don’t have the space to store even one of these proposed large containers.

We are a household of only two people and since we compost and recycle, it takes us more than a month to fill a 25-litre garbage bag. Other options should be explored. Perhaps pay by the litre or opt out of some of the services.

Lastly, why such a short notice? Why weren’t we consulted?
