Re: “Gibsons author’s second novel redeems lovable loser,” Oct. 26.

Thanks for throwing a spotlight on local author Mark Cameron. His new novel, 17 Weddings, along with other homegrown books from the Sunshine Coast, are the solution to our Christmas gift-giving quandary. Good books (fiction or fact) serve as portals to hidden truths, which may explain our fiction addiction. To get our fix, we needn’t look any further than writers like Pender Harbour’s Theresa Kishkan, or Roberts Creek’s Caitlin Hicks, or Gibsons’ Rebecca Hendry, Mike Wilson and Mark Cameron, and so many more. Many of us are going to buy locally this Christmas, so why not adopt the 100-Mile Reading Diet as well. And give the gift of truth.
