Letters: Why is a solution being shut down?

"What kind of a society are we that cannot accept creative solutions in the middle of a national housing crisis? A crisis affecting all of us, with cutbacks in service in every sector through the inability of employers to find staff to fill the many vacant positions often based on lack of accommodation."

The property owner of 1220 Lockyer Road applied to allow the temporary use of RVs, but that process may soon come to an end.

Editor:

Whenever I drive past the corner lot at Lockyer Road and Highway 101 in Roberts Creek, I note, what a creative idea the mobile homes are. Really well arranged, clean and tidy, each with a little bit of garden and a quiet space to enjoy a sunset, nothing whatever unsightly.

Imagine my dismay to see that this opportunity to provide extra housing will be shut down.

In Vancouver people are providing “Laneway homes” on standard city sizes lots, yet here on the Coast, owners with generous acreage are not being allowed to create living spaces.

Surely there is away to resolve this issue and even set up a model for rezoning and management of the necessary infrastructure.
