Letters: Water tower in municipal hall?

Editor:

Amongst many other issues of the day, Sechelt council has been deliberating over the future of the district hall building. Repair the leaks, extend the building, tear down the tower or just give it a lick of paint? The iconic “lighthouse” tower is, at least, admired from the bedroom of one councillor (as reported at a recent council meeting) and should therefore, in their opinion, be saved. This “folly” of the original architect serves very little functional purpose. Here’s a solution. How about turning it into a water tower? It could store water for the inevitable restrictions each year and provide that extra capacity to meet the necessary SCRD fire flow requirements for the much needed densification of downtown Cowrie!
