Who can collect two tonnes (2,000 kg) of garbage from ditches in two hours? Forty Elphinstone residents, ranging in ages from four to 80, spent last Saturday morning in ditches, collecting items that are better suited in trash barrels and recycling depots, rather than on our roadsides.
We retrieved an office chair, barbecues, wheelbarrows, car parts, ocean styrofoam, hubcaps, tires, boat parts, propane tanks, ropes, old tarps, much metal and a plethora of other odd items, along with 250 cans and many plastic containers.
Elphinstone Area E is a whole lot cleaner because of all our volunteers pitching in.
