It would be hard to find a more blatant example of NIMBYism than that of the letter writer of “Muffle the planes.” It’s highly probable that some of the noise that she finds so very annoying is from the float planes that use Porpoise Bay and provide a vital commercial passenger service to Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaimo.
Several of the planes that use the airport also provide essential commercial air taxi services.
Hardly “boys with toys.”
Admittedly there are a number of aircraft owners (including myself) who are recreational pilots but I resent being characterised as a “boy with a toy” by somebody who shows ignorance as to what generates most of the noise and who probably moved to the area long after the airport was established.
