Letters: Retain our water

Quoted from the SCRD release: “It is common for communities to realize a reduction in water consumption by 20% to 30%.” Perhaps they should have read the rest of those reports. The reduced water consumption is a temporary situation, as usually water use reverts to pre-meter levels within two years, and after that only poorer people restrict usage.

We all are aware that untold dozens of creeks have been pouring water into the ocean, lo these many months, and expect the SCRD to do something that will retain some of it for the summer. They have known for over 30 years that it was necessary, yet their solution has been water meters. We have done our part, now it is time to do your jobs!
