In September 2024 the Habitat for Humanity refundables collection trailer relocated from Salish Soils to the ReStore on Wharf Avenue (former location of the Sechelt Legion). After 10 years at Salish Soils, we understand this was a big change for people and are extremely grateful to the donors who come to our new location with their offerings. We are equally grateful to the condo complexes and neighbourhood groups who organize and deliver their refundables to us.
Since our move however, our donations are down 25 per cent. Many refundable containers are currently being taken to Salish Soils and left in the collection bags where they simply become recycled products. This is money wasted and helps no one.
Please consider bringing your refundable ready-to-drink beverage containers to us. We are volunteer run so almost all of the proceeds go towards providing affordable homes for working families on the Sunshine Coast. If you are going to Salish Soils with your recycling, we are on the way for most people. Maybe you’re going to Porpoise Bay Park or Hidden Grove; we’re on the way. Perhaps you enjoy having lunch at Lucky’s Smokehouse or the Lighthouse; we’re on the way. If you come in the afternoon our awesome volunteers will be happy to help you unload. After you drop off your beverage containers you could wander in to the ReStore and see what’s new. Inventory changes every day and the fabulous staff would be happy to help you find something.
We are open Tuesday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. See you soon.
