Letters: No sign of an address

I was privileged to take a direct role in our recent federal election – by distributing and posting lawn signs for one of the candidates – and it was a rewarding experience. However, I was also shocked and appalled.

Distributing the signs meant looking for addresses, which inevitably meant reading the numbers on many other houses on the same street. I was shocked at how often these numbers were not to be found, or were so obscured or faded that it took some time to figure out. I of course had lots of time. But I was appalled at the idea of an emergency responder trying to figure it out in a hurry.

Don’t do it for me (my little task is over), do it for yourself: make sure your address is easily legible from the road.
