Letters: No laughing matter

Editor:

With the election just around the corner (Oct. 15) we, once again, see the emergence of the people who don’t appear to believe in the democratic process. As we have seen demonstrated in the past, local elections can be quite divisive and garner strongly opposing positions but it doesn’t warrant, nor justify, criminal behaviour. That’s right, I said criminal.

Destroying, tampering or stealing election signs is not only juvenile, it’s a criminal offence. Election signs are permitted on the side of the highway as well as on private property with the express permission of the owner. Removing them, repeatedly, is not acceptable.

If you disagree with a candidate’s platform then vote accordingly on October the 15. That’s the democratic, and adult, approach to politics!
