Letters: Newly elected have water promise to keep

A tap with water flowing

Editor:

With great expectations we awaited the rain that would soak the soil and fill the lakes that our municipal government has chosen to drain for our water system. AND THE RAIN GODS LAUGHED. So now what?

Do we expect our new mayor, who when he was in office before did nothing to help the water situation, to ameliorate the causes of drought? Will he be savvy enough to not be like the former mayor who used yards of cement to make useless sidewalks when a large reservoir (or many reservoirs) could have been built to catch the gallons upon gallons of rain that pour down on us all spring and winter? Or will he build a salination plant since we live beside an ocean?

I am waiting Mr. Henderson. Will you fulfill your promise?
