Albert Reeve misconstrued the sue big oil movement (Suing Big Oil, Coast Reporter, March 1). By suing big oil, we are merely asking them to pay the real price of extracting oil and not leaving the bill for health, lack of clean air, pollution and heavy use of clean water and the clean up of polluted sites to the taxpayer to pay for.

The oil people like to present our need to wean ourselves from oil as an all or nothing proposition. All or nothing is seldom the answer to anything. Investing in alternate green energy instead of oil and creating a green infrastructure, is realistic and necessary to avoid floods, fire and tornadoes.

The SD46 electric busses are a wonderful example of pivoting to sustainable green energy. It would be even better if the whole coastal bus system went electric. Well run busses take cars off the road, making the roads less crowded, safer and less polluting. Let us encourage solutions rather than fear mongering about change.
