Editor:
The collision between Oceanview and Burton at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, which closed the highway for two hours, shows yet again that our highway is inadequate at best and dangerous at worst. There was no bypass or detour available for emergency services or for anyone with an urgent appointment or needing to get to the ferry terminal.
An improved highway or, better yet, a new bypass highway from Langdale to Sechelt and beyond is a critical necessity. How many more collisions or accidents have to happen before the MOTI, for which “safety” is a stated top priority, takes action?
Perhaps our next MLA will take the initiative and do something in contrast to our current and thankfully outgoing invisible MLA.
Our highway is a disgrace and nobody in Victoria seems to care.
