We live in an easy access, well lit neighbourhood, and every Hallowe’en we get about 150 trick or treaters. Last night was no exception. They come from away, and often in carloads. One group that came to the door was at least 12 strong!

But all of them, from the very smallest to the ones who are on the verge of not coming anymore, are so friendly and polite. They thank us for the candy – which I put out on a wooden tray so they can choose their favourite – and wish us a good evening, and “Happy Hallowe’en!” One big lad said, “Could I have two?” When I said “Yes,” he just smiled and walked away.

Well done to the children (and parents!) of Sechelt. May you grow up to take good care of the world.
