Let me see if I understand correctly. During this cold spell, BC Hydro is apparently maxed out in generation and supply to keep us all warm and to keep the lights on.
Now, our ideologically driven politicians, both federal and provincial, have determined that we will all be driving EVs in 20 years or so.
Quite apart from the fact that EVs have their own massive carbon footprint (mining, materials used, manufacture etc) and the battery recycling will cause massive pollution and waste, where is there a plan to increase generating capacity, which has to be “green and sustainable,” to provide the massive amount of MW power required for all the EVs that will be on the roads? Not to mention, where is the plan to provide the charging infrastructure so that we can actually go somewhere instead of being limited to a one battery journey to and from home?
Of course, our leaders continue to show us a sterling example by flying all over the place to climate change conferences and in the process being responsible for massive amounts of GHG emissions, while achieving nothing other than issuing grandiose statements for action, which are then soon forgotten.
Has this world gone completely mad?The answer for me is a resounding yes.
