Letters: Best defences

Upon entering the Grasshopper Pub, a server asked to check our vaccination cards. Mine could not be read as I had folded it across the bar code. She asked me if I had the earlier card that showed I had both doses. I did and she accepted this and my ID as proof. I thanked her for ensuring our safety by thoroughly checking our documents. She said, well, thank you for thanking me. Some people get mad and yell at me.

I appreciate that restaurants on the Coast are taking seriously the proof of vaccinations. The Coast has just recorded its highest case numbers since the pandemic began [27 new cases between Oct. 17 and 23]. Masks and proof of vaccination are our best defences and will enable businesses to stay open.
