If the mandates the government has set out are not “arbitrary” then why have many in the government been caught with their pants down ignoring the rules?
Many members of parliament, our Prime Minister and our Premier have all been caught travelling when we weren’t supposed to, going out of country when we weren’t supposed to, ignoring rules about how many people can be at a table in a restaurant (looking at you, Mr. Horgan).
Why is it that many of you will go to extraordinary lengths to defend the decisions our government has made?
Fear. It’s fear. You’ll do anything if you are promised it will keep you safe. You’ll give up your rights, your freedoms and you will expect everyone else to do so without complaint. All because you are afraid.
Fear is a great motivator, but it is also the most base motivator. It makes people do things they wouldn’t normally do. It has made people hateful, arrogant, argumentative, spiteful and irrational. The same government you trust is the same that has allowed the cost of living to be unaffordable. The same government will allow suicide rates and overdoses to climb, and not provide any affordable resources for psychological help. The same government that gave the CBC tens of millions of dollars because “they were suffering” and yet turns a blind eye to all the people and businesses going down and those who are becoming homeless due to ridiculous housing costs. The same government that has allowed gas prices to go up to $1.76. This is the same government that you not only trust, but will defend vehemently with your last breath? Wow. Amazing what fear can do.
