Letters: Amazing health care, despite crisis

'Heath care may well be in crisis but I would never have realized. Whatever money has been promised is absolutely not enough. These amazing people deserve so much more!!!!'

Editor:

Heath care. We have all seen and heard how our national health care is in crisis. Two weeks ago today, I was taken by ambulance to Sechelt hospital after what was discovered to be a heart attack.

The excellent, efficient, timely, empathetic and knowledgeable care afforded to me that afternoon and overnight was admirable and amazing. I was later transferred to St Paul’s hospital in Vancouver for an angiogram, revealing blockages. That was a Wednesday morning and by Friday evening I had survived triple bypass surgery. And on Tuesday Feb.14 I was discharged.

The whole team at St Paul’s is beyond belief, I mean everyone!!! My surgeon, other doctors, nurses, physios, dietitian, technicians, porters, food service workers. Simply astonishing!!! No words can really express my gratitude to everyone involved, my own family doctor also.

Heath care may well be in crisis but I would never have realized. Whatever money has been promised is absolutely not enough. These amazing people deserve so much more!!!!
