Editor:
I feel obligated to respond to the SCRD’s decision on water meters and the borrowing of millions of dollars. The AAP forms could be picked up and dropped off upon completion at the SCRD office or printed off from a computer and mailed in. That works if you have a computer and printer, which I and many others do not have. That also meant if you were able to print off a form, fill it in and mail it, there was a trip to either the post office or a mailbox to get it in the mail. This is not convenient for many, especially seniors and persons with disabilities. I myself own only a laptop and drove up to Field Road to get my form, fill it out and drop it in the window. That worked for me as I drive and own a car, but many others don’t have that luxury, leaving them without a vote on this matter.
Everyone should have been able to vote. It is a huge debt and will increase our taxes annually yet again for many years to come. When the next election comes around, perhaps we should all be voting to get a new mayor and councillors who will work for us and not against us.
