One simple way that we can all save water is when we are running our hot water taps in our kitchens, catch all of the water that comes out before the hot water. I catch it in a stainless pot and carry it out to my front deck, when it is full and empty it into 5-gallon buckets. I use it to water my potted plants. It is surprising how little time it takes to fill these buckets. If all households did this one simple thing, the Sunshine Coast would save large volumes of water instead of wasting it by letting it run down the drain in times of no rainfall.
