As a concerned resident, I urge the SCRD board and staff to revise the overly ambitious 2024 budget plan and focus on the strategic priorities: water stewardship and solid waste solutions.
The number of incomplete budget initiatives year over year continues to grow (159 carry forward projects) because we have been unable to adequately resource them (both human and fiscal resources).
Adding 103 new projects this year is destined to further dilute our capacity to complete, no matter how much residential taxes are increased. We must delay some initiatives and focus on urgent ones.
Costs are escalating, human resources are scarce. Difficult decisions must be made.
SCRD: please make them!
Residents: let your director know your concerns before Feb 5.
