Regarding your Aug. 20 headline, “SCRD prepares for emergency response to water crisis,” I laughed until I cried.
Oh, the irony! Would this be the same emergency response we have been pleading for year after year after year? Or is it a new emergency with the same old inaction?
Moments of levity in this pathetic situation are important; I had a good chuckle this morning as I watched a Winnebago fill its water tank at an outside tap and thought about SCRD staff’s acknowledgment that with seasonal residents and tourists, “more people are using water.”
No doubt board meetings provide you with much comedic material. One needs only turn to page 5 and read the tale of the voting directors rejecting a moratorium on new development. Instead, the board will send a letter. Emergency response?
