Letter: In light of water restrictions, hold back on development

'Giving approval for multi-home developments before our water supply is at a healthy level, is not “serving” in my humble book'
Building frame structure on a new development site

Editor:

My letter is written to the attention of the editor, and those who have some control over approving community growth and the activities of this growth.

Surely all council members live, as we do, on the Sunshine Coast, and therefore live with the same water restrictions as the population they “serve.”

Think about this, every week growing thirsty vegetables, letting the flower beds struggle, catching any run-off while the shower heats up, thus showering less often, wearing clothes a day longer so that wash days can be farther apart and our list goes on.

Yet, giving approval for multi-home developments before our water supply is at a healthy level, is not “serving” in my humble book.

Since we hope council members are following severe restriction guidelines as the rest of us are, we also hope that better judgment will prevail very soon and we, the citizens, need not send letters like this which seem to fall on deaf ears.

Most sincerely,

Hilda and Leigh Parker-Jervis
