As an 86-year-old, often cranky and unsociable resident of Sechelt, I thought of how we are dealing with life here – and concluded that we are doing very well! Having reached “the age of discretion,” I do not easily express my thoughts to my neighbours in this small community. But now I will.

Thank you, everyone! Thank you to the people who smile and say hello, to the kind staff in stores and restaurants, coping with masks all day, to the wonderful ElderDog folks who walk my bossy and sometimes demanding dog, to the Library staff, to my neighbours who bring me wonderful things from their gardens … and many, many others.

Life in a small town brings out the best in people. We are blessed! Let’s keep it that way.
