Letter: An obit for the Coast's plants and flowers

It is with great sadness that we announce the slow passing of Sechelt’s plants and flowers.  After a long and brave fight against inadequate water supply, these valiant individuals left us for that great compost pile in the sky.

Previously deceased by their close relatives, the Sechelt lawns. Surviving family members (cactus, sage brush and tumbleweed) continue to struggle, and should be able to seek assistance from the Dusty Road Well which has the potential to produce more than 5 million litres of water per day. Development of this well should be imminent, but sadly it is not.

We expect to face these crippling water restrictions for even more years until an adequate new water supply is developed. The Dusty Road Well offers an opportunity to mitigate or eliminate these water restrictions while an abundant water supply is developed.

We welcome your support at this difficult time.  Please do not send flowers! However, please email the SCRD directors, whose address can be found on the SCRD website, asking them to reconsider their decision to abandon this site. In addition, make an urgent call to Nicolas Simmons – 604-741-0792 seeking his help in this overdue fiasco.
