Editor:
Thank goodness nothing came of the idea to ban roosters because of the noise they create.
Most of us could tolerate that natural sound far more readily than those made by machines. A rooster’s crow is intermittent and not of a high decibel level, whereas we are expected to ignore the annoying and penetrating sounds that emanate from power lawn mowers, leaf blowers, construction machinery and some motorcycles, which are not intermittent but can go on for hours in a continuous cacophony of noise.
The decibels emitted from these and similar machines are far from comfortable and can be most irritating.
If noise is a problem, then let's have an enforceable noise bylaw to enable us to live in comparative peace in our small Eden-like communities!
