I was recently involved in a car accident in Lower Gibsons with a new driver who did a U-turn in front of me. I T-boned the kid and wrote off his car.

I did not phone the police because it was very obvious that the kid was at fault. He would have been given a ticket for "driving with undue care and attention" and a ticket under MVA under section 168 for no U-turn. His licence would have been suspended, so I cut him some slack.

This kid then proceeded to lie to ICBC and I was found 25 per cent at fault for the accident. So lesson learned.

If you have an accident, phone the police no matter how small the accident is, and believe the lawyers' commercial when he says, "Don't sign anything and get a lawyer before you talk to ICBC."
