The Southern Sunshine Coast Ferry Advisory Committee would like to commend all BC Ferries staff and crew who worked so hard to make the recent “hard landing” of the Queen of Surrey as non-traumatic as possible on the ferry users and the Sunshine Coast community. Ferry crew took care of passengers stranded on the ship for 11 hours, while BC Ferries staff did everything possible to communicate information and updates to the general public, as well as providing passenger-only service on water taxis. Many residents were also provided “free entertainment” from shore, and the cheers that erupted when the ship was finally removed from the berth was a very happy ending to an unfortunate incident.
