One thing about the shíshálh is that they sure know how to keep their government in line.
Makes me wonder what could happen if the SCRD board was held responsible for fiscal management with regard to our water – would councillors allow logging in our watershed, or would they buy it in order to ensure our safe water supply?
Would they spend millions to install water meters, or wisely put our tax dollars toward effectively increasing our water supply?
Is it ignorance (as in lack of knowledge) that has them voting to make us pay for water meters, installation thereof, and soon the water itself?
We have some of the purest water in the world. The SCRD expects us to pay for it, while the province is giving it away to Nestle who sells it back to us in a bottle.
Fiscal responsibility – would that we kept our municipal governments in line.
