Editor:
For many years now our news media have been broadcasting the fact that we urgently need “affordable housing” for all, and especially for seniors.
Where is the real action?
It is more than a year since I put my ideas on to paper and started talking to a few people, who are reported as being interested in the topic.
The SSC Group, who had hoped to include a number of units within their proposed development, seemed to have been “stalled” into oblivion. Others seem to be making little real inroads into building anything at all.
Affordability is fast becoming unattainable, as prices of everything are escalating and the demands being made of developers are turning them away.
So has anyone got access to land and financing to actually start building, or are they too, stymied by the lack of urgency on the part of the approving authorities to get this show on the road?
Are the approving authorities flexible enough to cope with new and innovative siting proposals?
Affordable housing must be heavily subsidized by government programs in order to get units built and on the market, as soon as possible. (There are grants available.)
If you know of anyone seriously interested in getting things rolling in top gear and who could lead the way to making my ideas a reality, please get in touch by calling me at 604-885-7996.
