As a neighbour who walks my dog to Coopers Green every day, I fully support the arguments of Lynne and Peter Bogardus (“Sleepy Hollow wakes up in anger,” Editorial, Dec. 4), Ron Roberts and Jane Tollestrup (“Why backtrack on hall?,” Letters, Dec. 4) in regard to the unnecessary redo proposed by the SCRD.
I attended the two open houses put on at the expense of the Halfmoon Bay Community Association (not the SCRD). I looked at the plans, filled out the questionnaires, saw the improvements suggested by various stakeholders in the area, and believed that the project was going forward as already decided by the community, especially after the feds and province kicked in $2 million for the project. I donated what I could to help it along. Now the SCRD wants to reinvent the wheel.
I can imagine the frustration of the folks who have donated the last eight years of their lives working towards a goal that looked like it was within reach, only to have their efforts erased by the bonehead bureaucrats on Field Road. We should remind them, those that we elect to office, that we get to redo them in a couple of years.
