I would have died last month

With the prompt and professional help of the BC Ambulance Services, I am here today to say thanks.

Sabrina and Jamie are paramedics who were serving the Sunshine Coast as a part of this local shortage of available paramedics. They are based out of the Lower Mainland. They were at my home on Pratt Road within minutes of our 9-1-1 call.

On the way to St. Mary's Hospital I went into full cardiac arrest. They started CPR immediately on me while en route. Without this prompt care, I would not be here today.

On behalf of my wife, six children and nine grandchildren I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lehmann and the nurse at the Gibsons Medical Clinic, Dr. Wadge, Dr. Petzold and the excellent nursing staff at St. Mary's Hospital.

Once I was flown to St. Paul's Hospital I was in the best medical hands in B.C. for cardiac care. Seven days later I came home in total disbelief of what had happened.

It scares the daylights out of me to read about possible upcoming shortages of ambulances. I really feel that I would be a casualty of my heart attack if it had occurred during one of their shortages.

This ambulance shortage is a serious problem.
