“Things bad begun make strong themselves by ill:” Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Act III, Scene 2.
This is an apt quote for Site C. The B.C. Liberals excluded the project from scrutiny through the normal channels of the B.C. Utilities Commission, expenses have been billions already and estimates for completion will go over many more billions. Meanwhile, most of the rest of the world – including Alberta! – is moving rapidly on solar and wind power projects.
Sadly, in B.C. our NDP government will continue with an astronomically expensive project without giving any attention to the destruction of the land and of Aboriginal rights. All the capabilities of sun and wind for producing energy and being low cost and rapid to install are being ignored.
We need to rename our energy source “B.C. Energy,” rather than “B.C. Hydro,” and take our place with governments, corporations and individuals around the world who are looking ahead, rather than backwards.
Our NDP government has chosen to make a horribly wrong decision.
“Things bad begun make strong themselves by ill.”
