Editor:
Rosemary Roberts, in her June 9 letter, states that (BC Ferries) “simply do not care about us.”
I, together with many other Coasters, could not agree more.
One has only to read the article on page 11 (“BC Ferries schedule consultation continues”) to realize the truth of that statement, contained in the comments by Deborah Marshall, who is clearly programmed to trot out the standard corporate party line, whose platitudes are designed to give the appearance of some concern and action, while actually nothing is done nor planned to be done.
Had BC Ferries management undertaken some demographic population studies for the routes that it serves, it would have become obvious years ago that changes would have to be made and different ships would need to be purchased.
The two hourly service is inadequate for most of the year and the 20-minute turnaround time is completely unrealistic for full loads. BC Ferries management refuses to recognize this and keeps its head firmly in the sand, a supreme example of corporate incompetence. I am left to wonder what they do all day, as caring for customers and improving efficiency are certainly not part of the daily work routine.
