It was around 10 p.m. at Buccaneers where the post-election results were being celebrated by Darnelda Siegers, a few of the newly elected councillors and a packed house of supporters. I was near the entry door when a man in a black fedora approached me and extended his hand. It was Bruce Milne. He congratulated me and Darnelda’s team for running a great campaign. He also spoke in front of the crowd, congratulated Darnelda and reminded her of the difficult path ahead.
Darnelda and the new slate of councillors have a daunting task in front of them. Our community will have to work together to find solutions.
Bruce went a long way on Saturday night to put a positive spin on a result that couldn’t have been easy for him. The transition from his tenure to hers will go a long way to getting this community on the right track.
Very classy, Bruce. We were all impressed.
