Monday night in Gibsons could prove to be a pivotal one for the future of Gospel Rock.

The first major public consultation on the latest draft of the proposed neighbourhood plan takes place starting at 6 p.m. at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre. The meeting will provide information on how the plan was developed and will give the public a chance to comment.

Gospel Rock and its proposed development plans have had more twists and turns than the wooden rollercoaster at the PNE.

Discussion on many occasions has been controversial and heated. Many people are passionate about the future of this area and how they would like to see it developed, if developed at all. We are glad to be at least at this stage of the process - public consultation - and we encourage further dialogue.

If you like the plan and how the process has moved forward, then show up and voice that comment. If you don't like the plan and have suggestions to make the plan better, then show up and voice those comments. The bottom line is - show up and speak up. Don't be one of those people who months from now starts complaining about the proposed plan when it goes before council for final approval. The Town of Gibsons wants to hear your input, so here's your chance.

We'll be there to hear the comments - will you?

Have a safe grad

Next week marks the end of a life chapter for hundreds of Grade 12 students from Pender Harbour, Chatelech and Elphinstone secondary schools. Commencement ceremonies take place Monday and Tuesday and will be an exciting time for the graduating students, their family and friends.

We want to congratulate all the grads of the Sunshine Coast and wish them well in whatever future paths they choose. And we also have a message - share in the excitement of this joyous occasion, but please do so safely and responsibly. Don't drink and drive, and don't take any unnecessary risks. This is a time in your life that should be celebrated and remembered for all the right reasons.
